Suggested Guidelines for Submitting Updates

A standard for writing “good information” should include informative or explanatory writing.

The primary purpose of informative/explanatory writing is to increase the understanding of the reader. This style of writing starts with the assumption of truthfulness, focusing on telling how or why. Informative/explanatory writing might include any or all of the following:

  • Providing new knowledge
  • Explaining a process
  • Developing a concept

Informative/explanatory writing might focus on any of the following:

  • Enumerating and clarifying different types
  • Defining
  • Detailing components
  • Explaining behavior or function
  • Providing explanations of why

Please always include the following with your submission:

  1. Image(s) or document(s) that help illustrate/explain your message
  2. List how the reader is impacted–this¬†might include concluding with: how does this information impact the reader, what can they gain (or loose), and how they can participate in the topic explained
